4 Simple Ways to Pursue Your Passion

First let me apologize for the late post. I went out of town this weekend and though that isn’t uncommon, leaving my handy dandy Mac Book at home is.

Second, I have to admit this post isn’t what I originally thoght it would be be. I had planned to write about the chunky heeled bootie and how that is probably the one item to buy this fall if you don’t already have a pair and you have a little room in your fall wardrobe budget. But then I attended a retirement party for the most stylish woman I know.

During the ceremony, one by one people rose to speak about this chic fashionista. Almost everyone- male, female, young and not so young mentioned how well she dressed; but that was just the intro to their speeches. What they really talked about was her passion. Not only did she rock Chanel earrings with her super cute shoes but she spent decades creating, executing and expanding programs for kids. Long after we remember how amazing she looked in Burberry, her legacy will still continue to grow because she was passionate about more than just what she wore each day.

Of course this made me think about my own passion for promoting self-care and self-confidence for women and how important it is to pursue our goals. Our passions don’t have to be earth shattering and not everyone desires to be a visionary, but I do believe that everyone has a dream.

What are you passionate about and how does that play into your dreams for your life? Do you want to go back to school to study something you love, start your own business or use your creative talents? There really is no time like the present to start laying out your plans.

Here are 4 simple ways to firm up those plans and pursue your passion:

  • Do your research-what will it take to get you from point A to point B? The internet is a great place for information, but you can do it the old-fashioned way too. Know someone doing what you would like to do? Give them a call!
  • Create a vision board-If you read my book  Single Mom Chic You know I am all about creating a visual to help keep your goal in sight.  Ironically, I attended an event on the same day as the aforementioned party where everyone created vision boards together!
  • Create yearly and monthly goals-don’t just write them down, check in on them weekly. This is another great use for the planners I mentioned in this previous post.
  • Find an accountability partner-a lot of people caution about sharing your dreams with any and everyone lest they try to derail them. This doesn’t mesh well with my optimistic outlook on humanity, but I do agree that it’s probably better to limit the sharing to those who can support you and hold you accountable.

I would love to hear about how you are going to pursue what you are passionate about. Let me know in the comments below.

Until Next Post,
